Walla Walla, it has cooled off. I needed a cooler weekend for my garden and yard work.    The weekend before with the heat took me down. I had to take a cool shower and fall asleep!

https://i0.wp.com/montco.happeningmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/relay-4-life-2.jpgThe Cancer Walk went well this year with a lot of participants. From third party information, they raised over $40,000 and that isn’t their best year. Early in their events they raised as much as $80,000.

Walla Walla supports so many needs, because we are such a great community. Blue Mountain Humane Society is on a campaign to do a major remodel at their current location which will create a better environment for the pets and the staff. If you want to support the drive contact the Humane Society or Tish Watts here at Coldwell Banker First Realtors for donations.

Also, some of you know I am on the Board for the new Charter Public School, Willow Charter School. We have found a location and secured some of our initial funding and are now moving which is exciting to move ahead. Our start date will be August of 2017. Watch for information in the near future for information and how to sign up. It will be for grade level 6 and 7 to start with and in 2018 we will have an eighth grade.

Real Estate is solid with buyers and sellers moving ahead with their plans. Rates are still good but could change at any point so if a new home is in your future start the process!

FATHERS DAY THIS WEEKEND:

Fathers Day.pngI LIKE THIS QUOTE: GOD BLESS FATHERS. “WHAT A FATHER GIVES A CHILD IS PART OF WHO HE IS AND WHO THEY WILL BECOME…HIS LOVE, WISDOM, AND EXAMPLE WILL SHAPE THEM FOR A LIFE TIME.  WE HAVE TO HAVE OUR CHILDREN’S HEART”.

This came from the movie “Courageous”.

Thank you, and call if I can help. Dads read and reflect on your children if you pass it on they will as well to generations to come.

God Bless you all.

Outside:

  1. Shingles that are warped, blistered, or torn.
  2. Shingles covered in moss or algae.
  3. Loose material or wear around any chimneys, pipes, and other penetrations in the roof.
  4. Overhanging tree branches that could gouge the roof in strong winds and snow.
  5. Excessive debris (leaves, dirt, ice, roofing granules) in the gutters or downspouts, which would block drainage.

IMG_7526Watch out for heat this early part of June. I heard it will be over 100 degrees this first full weekend in June. Watch your plant transplants closely – give them artificial shade to protect them if they are new and in full sun. Pets, make sure they are well watered and kept cool. Many people have lost pets in severe heat especially older dogs and cats.

One of my simple pleasures this time of year is to sit on our patio with my  lovely wife, Donna, and listen to our birds who are chirping away, in and out of our 8 bird houses. It is so relaxing. I have watched how the parents care for their chicks in the houses and I feel humans should follow their model more closely than what seems to happen in our world.

IMG_7590The male wrens are in and out throughout the day feeding and caring for the chicks to assist Mom in bringing the eggs to life and getting them to fly away as young birds, caring for themselves. I think our Dads need to try to be more a part of that process and many are, but the male figure in the family structure is so important. I see in Church that when Dad attends, the entire family joins in attending Church; but if it is just Mom, it does not always work that way. Dads are important in a strong family and need to help wives and Moms as much as needed. One of the big issues with children in today’s world and getting them to be responsible adults is that they do not start with a strong family unit. Let’s all work on that.

In real estate, we had a strong May. More new listings than in the last five years. We had 113 residential listings in May for Walla Walla and College Place. Inventory helps make the housing industry run at a comfortable speed. We are getting a few multiple offers but not crazy.. It’s a good time to buy and sell.

June is a great month.    Enjoy!!!
