Well the closing numbers for January are in.   For residential closed sales in Walla Walla and College Place we had 32 closings this year, 2011.   Closings a year ago with the same search were 30.   Not a huge increase but still showing signs of progress.   We feel that we will hold our own in 2011.   Dayton had a good year in 2010 better than they have seen for a couple of years and that is encouraging as well.    All in all the Walla Walla Valley is alive and well.

Open house results show strong attendance.   Real energy in the lending sector as well.    There are real reasons to look to buy this year.  Interest rates are on the rise and new FHA rules are being create that require higher down payments so now is the time before requirements change.    Talk with of the mortgage officers from The Home Loan Center to see the new changes and lock in your rates.   Call Tim, Bobbie Jo, Lorne, Jesse, or Janis and they can help take the bumps out of the lending process.    

The weather has been just wonderful for February, but as we know it can change at any time.   The bulbs are bursting from the ground and you can see new buds on many of the flowering bushes.   Spring is definitely in the air.

We have met last year’s numbers and should exceed once the final number are in. The energy we see with the activity at open houses and showings has been the best we’ve seen since 2007. Our Associates are busy and encouraged that we will have another solid month of business in February. The weather this past month has been stunningly beautiful and I am sure that has helped. All in all, we feel we are off to a great start in 2011.

I have asked my mortgage partner, Tim Applebee of The Home Loan Center, to give an overview of his 2010 and the upcoming year. Thanks Tim for your comments.

“I’m a little late for a New Year’s look at things, but it is the beginning of February, so I will let that be my overview starting point for the coming year. I like a fresh new start to things. A new year, a new week, a new month. As I look back on 2010, I feel very good about the accomplishments that we have made. I feel confident that this coming year is going to be a great one for us and the mortgage industry. It is amazing that loans are at the lowest rate in more than 50 years.

We made some significant changes in 2010 that will definitely impact 2011. Opening an office in Coldwell Banker First Realtors was a huge step for us and I feel it was a good decision that will only improve with time. We are happy to be situated in a prime location both at the CBFR location and of course at our busy corner at 1st and Main streets. We have added a new Loan Consultant, Janis Craig, who has been in the Mortgage Industry for more than 20 years. We are excited to have her as part of the team and look forward to the changes that we know she will bring. Jesse Goodwater is now a licensed Loan Consultant who is excited and optimistic about the future that is now ahead of him in the Mortgage business.

As I look forward to this coming year I see a lot to look forward to. I know that there will be challenges, but I also feel equipped to deal with each and every one of them as we strive to better serve our clients. I believe that if you have a winning team as I believe we have, we will be successful. As I stand just past the mark for 2010 and just at the start of 2011, I am ready. I have a great team behind me and goals to achieve and pass. I feel blessed to be a part of this industry, my community, my business, my faith and my family. I truly believe that “Our Service Sets Us Apart.” I look forward to our clients giving us the opportunity to prove to them that it is more than a slogan, it is our commitment to each and everyone that we work with.”
