Archive for October, 2015

Well, we just completed the first October Balloon Stampede – and it was a tremendous success with weather, people, and programs! Night glow was beautiful, the Wednesday tethered lift-offs for children were just fantastic, the balloonists were so pleasant; they blended into Walla Walla so well this year making for a wonderful event. I hope most of you had a chance to see parts of the program. It was easy, all you had to do is look up in the mornings after 7 AM and the skies above our valley were filled with the beautiful colored hot air balloons!

This is also the weekend of the Realtor® Care & Share Food Drive. We are hoping it will be the biggest ever. I will be able to tell you the results next blog, but we are hoping for 20 tons of food. Thank you Realtors® for all of your work and commitment to community in the food drive and the other volunteer projects we all do.

Hot of the press! The results of the Food Drive: 39,000 lbs, just under 20 tons of food with more still coming in. We should meet our goal – Thank you Walla Walla!

On to real estate..

“Homeownership is a part of the American Dream and the new survey proves that the dream is still alive and well in our communities” says NAR President Chris Polychron

https://i0.wp.com/kobplanrealty.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Rent-or-buy.jpgThe number of renters who are now thinking about purchasing a home has increased since the last survey in 2013, up from 36% to 39%. Sixty-one percent of renters stated that owning a home is a priority for their person future. According to the survey, 80% of respondents believe that pre-purchase counseling programs and classes are very or somewhat important. Forty-five percent of homeowners, who say they did not take a counseling program, reported they would have taken part in one if it had been offered and available. With this information you should be directing your clients to classes or lenders to start the discussions. Tera of Academy Mortgage Corporation would be glad to assist in the education process.

Obstacles to homeownership have remained constant for years, and still are reflected in the today’s young buyers. College debt and student loans, not enough monthly income, and saving to secure a down payment are still at the top of the list. We https://i0.wp.com/www.nationalmemo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Student-Loans-668x501.jpghave ways to make it happen, so start the conversation with your clients – however, the millennials and those under 35 tend to have a more upbeat and positive view about the future of the nation than older Americans, with 42% of millenials saying the country is headed in the right direction compared to only 20% among those aged 50 and older.

Stay positive, because Homeownership is a top priority for most people, and you as Realtors® are here to make that dream come true.

Thanks for reading – we’ll see you next time!

Fall ihttps://i1.wp.com/www.wallawalla.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/home-slide2.jpgs here. Mornings are much cooler and the air is fresh – and Real Estate is still moving rapidly when property is priced correctly and in good showing condition. Inventory is still low, so do not hesitate to enter our local market because it is Fall. Interest rates are remaining steady, buyers are looking and are ready to buy. Give a Coldwell Banker Broker a call to get ideas on pricing and on how to best market your home and find your new dream home.

RECTANGLEWalla Walla Association of Realtors® Annual Food Drive is coming up fast – this is the 30th year that the food drive has been running and it has been extremely successful! This is the biggest drive for food in the Walla Walla Valley and assists families in need all winter long. Without this drive our food banks could not meet the dire needs of our valley families. An orange bag will show up on your porch on Friday or Saturday (October 16th-17th); if you fill it and place the bag back on your porch, a Realtor® will pick it up on Sunday October 18th. Start building your donation so the drive surpasses all previous drives. We need all of us to step up and assist. Thanks Realtors® for making this happen in our valley.

As a follow up on previous events, we held the “Mutts on Main” dog adoption event during Fair weekend. It was a great success even with the cold rain. We had 5 dogs adopted that day and we raised almost $1,900 for the Blue Mountain 11987146_10207233269421042_620880779050393352_nHuman Society which is a solid assist to their programs. Coldwell Banker International assisted in the adoption of 20,000 dogs throughout our system. WOW…. Our dogs and pets are a big piece of home ownership, and most of you who have pets know how they are just waiting for your car to return and the door to open – they are excited and happy to have us home. It is such a special feeling. Give you pet a hug so they know they are loved.

Back to business – DON’T FALL FOR THE WRONG HOME…

When you look for a home during the fall you have some real advantages. Buyer traffic usually has slowed with the start of school. Sellers who have had their home on the market for several months are weary of showings and the effort to find a new family for their pride and joy and are more willing to drop their prices. Your Coldwell Banker First Realtor Broker has more time for your needs and is telling you all the information about good values in great neighborhoods.

https://i0.wp.com/www.quickenloans.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/iStock_Thanksgiving-Table.jpgBut there is a reason you might be vulnerable in choosing a home too quickly – even though the market conditions are more in your favor. You want to get into your new home before the holiday season gets started. You have already started your Sunday nesting in front of your TV watching the SEAHAWKS WIN!!!! Or it is Thanksgiving and the family is coming for the weekend, EVERYBODY..

BUT WAIT…THE HOLIDAYS ARE NOT A DEADLINE… It is far better to choose a home that meets all your family needs no matter what time of year and you will know it when you see it. Let us help.

Thanks for reading, if we can help you, be sure to let us know!
