Walla Walla – enjoy the cool weather and the rain! My garden looks fantastic and I have been harvesting lots of different veggies already. I’m ready to eat some home grown tomatoes, they cannot be beat!

Hey Mom’s and Dad’s: plan a weekend camping trip up in the mountains, at a lake, or on the river with the kids.   Getting into the fantastic Blue Mountains so the see the beauty of where we live so it might set them in motion to do more of investing time in the outdoors instead of the TV or computer. I did with my boys as my Mom and Dad for me as I grew up. I love the outdoors and need to be there more than I am. If you do not have the equipment just go out for the day and take a lunch and a walk. It will pay off.

If you wait until it is 100 degrees, the cost to repair goes up because they are buried and it might bring on the overtime hourly cost from the regular. Normal might be $100.00 and overtime $150.00.  Also, change your filters twice a year – dirt can create damage, it’s an easy job you can do yourself. Check for window leaks, and gaps around them. Poor air seals with your windows could cost you as much as 40% of your monthly energy costs: check and repair (you might not have to get new windows). Still a good investment. Attic fans help with controlling the heat in your attic – I have one and it is controlled by a thermostat, it kicks in at a certain temperature to draw the heat out which will help keep your home cooler and easier on utility cost. I have read recently they now have solar powered units that even take the electrical use out of the equation.

Just a couple of ideas!

The community of Walla Walla is so great. The Realtors put on the annual Care and Share Golf Tournament for the food bank at the Blue Mountain Action Council two weeks ago, and the results are in.. They raised a record $24,000.00 plus to donate to the purchase of food. Generally, they can purchase food at a three to one ratio. So it could fund almost $75,000.00 in actual food for the bank!

We had a great 4th of July weekend. The Park was great, and if you did not see the Army Band at the Power House Theater you missed a wonderful event. It was free and there was standing room only. Almost 300 guests.

Thanks for reading and being a part of the Great Walla Walla Valley.
