Archive for December, 2015

https://theconservativetreehouse.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/pearl-harbor.jpg?w=261&h=198I am writing this on December 7th, 2015. A day of reflection with the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death of so many young Americans military and civilians which had to turn the world of our young men and women upside down. My mom and dad were married four days later on December 11th and shortly after that Dad joined the Marine Corps and fought the rest of the war in the Pacific campaign and the big one most of you might remember was Iwo Jima. Mom worked in the aircraft factors with Dad’s sister for several years helping in their own way to help in the effort.

I am 67 now and reflect on what we see happening currently with the Russian airliner shot down, Paris, and now San Bernardino. It is a different battle but it still is an attack on our way of life and we need to protect the next generation coming up from the fear that exists in the world today. Always be alert around work, neighborhood, and shopping. Let the police know if something just does not feel right. We all have to work to make it safe and for future generations. In WWII it was easy to identify the enemy and go out and destroy them. That does not exist with the battle today. God Bless our police, military, and our leaders.

Back to something more fun. Did you see the Macy’s Light Parade? I thought it was one of the best I have seen in several years with better floats, more lights and lots of families. We gave out 600 cookies, gallons of hot chocolate and coffee, and glow rings for the kids. It was backed in front of my office at Coldwell Banker First Realtors. My staff and Brokers served the onlookers for the entire procession. It was so much fun.

Christmas will be here before we know it so get out and get your shopping done early. Have a wrapping party with snacks and beverages and turn into a fun event instead of a pain.

God Bless you all.

December is here!

https://i2.wp.com/www.jadewalker.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/end-of-the-year.jpgWell, we made it through Thanksgiving – and can you believe we just have 30 days until we say good bye to 2015 and hello to 2016? We did not do much over our Holiday weekend, but I spent time thanking people for the blessings they have given to me over the years. I had a nice quiet dinner with my wife Donna, which was relaxing and comfortable.

Housing in 2015 is what was expected – solid growth in sales. Wait and see with the Western part of our country still outpacing https://i0.wp.com/realtybiznews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Fotolia_43769487_XS.jpgthe rest. The West rose from 1.0 to 1.2 percent continuing its pattern of outpacing the rest of the country. There are still fears that we could see another housing bubble burst in the West but hopefully not. Walla Walla is still solid and steady. Inventories are dropping but we have active buyers in our market. We are so lucky to live in such a consistent market like ours.

Do you ever get “Honey Do Lists” in December? Sometimes I get tasks from my lovely wife, but some tasks I give to myself.

Just some ideas:

  1. Clean out your fridge: You may still be working your way through Thanksgiving leftovers, but get ready for the new Christmas treats you will be getting.
  2. Deck the Halls: Before December races by, you set a day and time and put up your decorations – and make it fun with Christmas music and a nice hot beverage.
  3. Clean your Oven: Holiday cooking does not stop at Thanksgiving… Prep the oven for your cookies and that big Christmas Prime Rib or Ham.
  4. Stock up on Firewood: I have an outdoor fire pit, and it so much fun just to sit around it and talk about friends and memories.
  5. Put together a cold weather storm kit: Have extra candles, matches, batteries, flashlights and warm blankets.
  6. Create a gift wrap station: This will keep you from scrambling for scotch tape and scissors with all the last minute gifts you have to wrap. Save the empty tubes to pop someone you love on the head… Always fun to do.

There is nothing like being home for the Christmas holiday with family and friends, so take that time and make it happen.

Merry Christmas.
