Good Spring Morning, Walla Walla!IMG_7460

Still with the big decisions for our community, school district superintendent, retirement of Steve Von Ausdle from the community college, and the selection of a new Port of Walla Walla Executive Director.

I attended the meet and greet for the four professionals selected for the final review and approval process at the Marcus Whitman this past Wednesday and had an opportunity to talk with all but one of the candidates and they all of great talents. Expressing my opinion (my opinion only) I like Pat Reay, current city manager of College Place. It might be that I know him better than the others because of my interaction with him in his role with College Place and I liked that he helped when asked and told you upfront if he could not. I feel most of the people in the selection are very knowledgeable but they really do not know the Valley and I feel that takes time to adjust and learn what we are all about. Pat has been here for nearly 12 years and he is just a good man.

The other candidates are the following:

  1. Jennifer Dickinson: Current Columbia County Port manager
  2. KC Kuykendall: Owner and startup of Sustainable Solutions Group, LLC. Richland, Washington
  3. Arthur Scheumann: Senior Vice President of Business Development for Northwest Container Services. Seattle, Washington.

I know our commissioners for the Port will make a good decision.


Spring in Walla Walla, it is so beautiful, and the dogwood’s are in Bloom. I am including some shots this week of the entry to Pioneer Park of Alder. Spectacular.

Real Estate is still moving in our valley. Inventories are still low and the Days on Market is dropping with the sale price in comparison with the list price. We are getting a few multiple offers which usually results in a price higher than the list price an fewer owner concessions to a prospective buyer

Some statistics for the first Quarter of 2016

We have 117 listing under contract waiting for contingency satisfaction. I talked about how close the sale price is to the original list price and these numbers reflect that. The average is 97.35 % and the median is 98.58. Our average list price is currently $241,990 and the median is currently $217,979 with the average somewhat weighted because of a couple million dollar listings.
