April Showers….

As the saying goes, “April showers bring May Flowers”.  I am certainly ready for that. Sorry it’s been so long period since my last blog.  I had a lot on my plate with travel, illness, and vacation but I am glad to be back.

A lot has gone on since my last communication regarding Real Estate in the Walla Walla Valley and I want to take some time to update you on what we have seen.   First I would say the March activity was down from last year.   Weather, economic news, and underwriting issues for closing loans, but they seem to be improving.    Activity at the open houses, inquiries on our web site, and walk in inquiries were strong.   Financing issues slowed several closings with all the new underwriting but we still feel very optimistic on the balance of the spring.

Last week we did something totally new for us, we hosted our first real estate career night here at the office with our education trainer, Pat Richmond moderating the event.   Participating on our panel were myself, Realtors, Peter Swant, Kris Youd, Marli Jerald and Karen Yager along with staff members Lisa Baxter, Megan Eaton.  We discussed everything from licensing requirements to marketing to the ups and downs of being a Realtor.  The event was well received with six attendees’; 5 whom rsvp’d and one walk in which was exciting for us.  Here is some of the feedback we have received:

“I really appreciated the chance to hear from brokers that have been in the business. The panel discussion with brokers in the field provided valuable advice. I gained a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities one might face in the business. The handouts were a great help in understanding the education and financial requirements associated with getting started.” Travis

“Career night at Coldwell Banker Walla Walla was a very informative, interesting concept. I felt the Q/A was very helpful in giving prospective agents a look inside the world of Real Estate. I appreciate the time and effort put into the meeting.” Mitch

More events like the career night to follow.  Watch our website www.coldwellbankerfirstrealtors.com for details.

We are really busy this April.   Lots of activity and all the comments on the news are really upbeat about housing.  New housing starts were up in March, existing homes sales were up, and overall mortgage applications were up in March.   That is the type of news that even creates a positive spin in our area.   Media drives attitudes and good news moves families out to look a homes.   April is going to be a good month.

Remember the Balloon Stampede in May and the Grand Opening of the Power House Theater.   We are competing in the first annual Ballonathon.   Balloons, running, and bikes.   Six teams entered and we have some Realtors from Coldwell Banker First Realtors that are going to blow the other teams off the road.

Remember to go on line to our site:   Coldwellbankerfirstrealtors.com for information on home inventory, MLS, and mortgage loans.

Thanks for your time.
